Ehud Barak is a partner with Proskauer Rose LLP in New York, where his practice focuses on the representation of debtors and creditors, including creditors’ committees, as well as investors in complex distressed situations. He represents a wide range of clients in chapter 11 cases in in- and out-of-court restructurings and bankruptcy litigation, including appeals. Currently, Mr. Barak is one of the leaders in representing the Financial Oversight and Management Board of Puerto Rico in its effort to restructure Puerto Rico’s outstanding debt load of more than $70 billion. He was instrumental in the $6 billion Title VI restructuring of the Governmental Development Bank’s debt. He also is focusing on overseeing the restructuring of over $8 billion of debt of Puerto Rico’s electric utility. Mr. Barak was named one of New York Super Lawyers’ “Rising Stars” of 2019-20. For the past few years, he has been invited to be a panelist at the ABA-NCBJA Conference. Mr. Barak co-chairs the ABA’s Business Bankruptcy Committee Mass Torts and Environmental Subcommittee. He also serves as a member of the SDTX committee for drafting rules regarding complex chapter 11 local rules. Prior to working in the U.S., Mr. Barak practiced law at one of Israel’s leading law firms, focusing primarily on complex commercial litigation cases. He received his B.A. and LL.B. magna cum laude from Tel Aviv University, and his LL.M. from Harvard Law School.
