<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Dr. David Carl Smith</strong> is the Virginia Bankers Association Eminent Professor of Commerce at the University of Virginia McIntire School of Commercein Charlottesville, Va. His areas of expertise include corporate valuation, restructuring and bankruptcy, leveraged finance and credit, and distressed investing. Dr. Smith has presented his research at universities and conferences around the world and been published in leading academic journals. He has worked as a testifying finance expert on cases related to company valuation, bankruptcy, corporate debt instruments, securities violations, pension funding and distressed-debt trading. Dr. Smith currently teaches classes in corporate finance and corporate restructuring and distressed-debt investing. He has also taught courses on valuation and fixed income to undergraduates and MBA students. Prior to joining the University of Virginia, Dr. Smith was an economist in the International Finance Division of the Federal Reserve Board and an assistant professor at the Norwegian Business School. He received his B.S. in economics at the University of Delaware and his Ph.D. in finance at Indiana University.</p>
