Adam D. Herring
Bio
Adam D. Herring is a partner with Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in Atlanta, where he advises lenders, businesses and other parties in resolving distressed debts both in out-of-court workouts and transactions and chapter 11 bankruptcies, assignments for the benefit of creditors, foreclosures and other formal proceedings. He represents clients across real estate, healthcare, transportation and other industries. Prior to joining Nelson Mullins, Mr. Herring served in a senior leadership role at the U.S. Department of Justice’s Executive Office for U.S. Trustees, overseeing the government’s civil enforcement in bankruptcy cases, serving as a senior legal and policy advisor, and negotiating resolutions to nationwide disputes involving financial institutions and other parties. He was honored in 2019 as an ABI “40 Under 40,” serves as co-chair of ABI’s Ethics and Professional Compensation Committee, and is on the advisory board of ABI’s Southeast Bankruptcy Workshop. He is a frequent speaker and writer on emerging developments in bankruptcy law and practice. Mr. Herring received his B.A. with distinction in 2006 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his J.D. in 2009 from Emory University School of Law, where he was articles editor of the Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal.
