Bio
Amalia Y. Sax-Bolder is a partner in the Denver office of Reed Smith LLP in Denver in its Financial Industry Group. She advises companies, lenders and investors in complex restructuring and insolvency matters. Ms. Sax-Bolder represents a broad range of constituents — including debtors, secured lenders, purchasers, equityholders and strategic investors — in chapter 11 bankruptcies, receiverships, foreclosures and out-of-court restructurings. She counsels clients across all stages of financial distress, from early strategic planning and fiduciary guidance for boards and management teams through in- and out-of-court proceedings. An experienced litigator, Ms. Sax-Bolder regularly handles adversary proceedings, arbitrations and contested matters, with particular experience in relief from stay and fraud-related disputes, including fraudulent transfer and asset recovery actions. She also represents clients on appeal, briefing and arguing complex issues arising out of bankruptcy and commercial litigation matters. In addition to her restructuring practice, Ms. Sax-Bolder advises clients on bankruptcy risk in mergers and acquisitions, real estate and structured finance transactions. She serves on the Global Board of the Turnaround Management Association and is president-elect of its Rocky Mountain chapter. Ms. Sax-Bolder has been recognized by Chambers USA and honored as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” and she received the Colorado LGBTQ+ Bar Association’s Attorney of the Year award. She received her B.A. in 2008 from Vassar College, her J.D. in 2013 from the Univeristy of Denver Sturm College of Law and her LL.M. in 2014 from New York University School of Law.
