Bernice C. Lee
Bio
Bernice C. Lee is a partner with Kozyak Tropin & Throckmorton, LLP in Miami, and is a court-appointed receiver and bankruptcy attorney for high-stakes distressed situations. With experience spanning corporate restructuring and federal equity receiverships, she advises distressed companies and creditors, and parties involved in insolvency-related litigation. Ms. Lee serves as the court-appointed receiver in complex matters involving distressed assets, fraud, mismanagement, multi-entity collapses and large investor populations. Her work includes serving as the federal equity receiver for a $200 million Ponzi scheme, where she has recovered tens of millions of dollars and administered thousands of investor claims, and a $93 million multi-entity real estate investment scheme, where she has administered over $70 million in real estate through free and clear sales. Ms. Lee is recognized by Chambers USA for her work in both Bankruptcy Litigation and Bankruptcy Restructuring, and she is a frequent speaker on bankruptcy and receivership-related subjects. In 2008 to 2009, she clerked for Hon. Paul G. Hyman in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida. Ms. Lee received her B.A. in communications from California State University at Fullerton and her J.D. from Northeastern Universit School of Law.
