Bio

R. Caleb Chaplain is a consumer bankruptcy attorney at Chaplain Dufraine, PLLC in Harrisonburg, Va., and serves as an adjunct professor of bankruptcy law at Washington and Lee University School of Law. Prior to opening his firm, he was the career law clerk to Hon. Rebecca B. Connelly of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Virginia in Harrisonburg, and earlier served as a term law clerk to both Judge Connelly and Chief Judge Paul M. Black. A coordinating editor for the ABI Journal and a 2022 honoree of ABI’s “40 Under 40” program, he also volunteers as president of the board of Second Home Learning Center, a nonprofit serving children from low‑income households in Harrisonburg. He holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College and a J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law.
