Bio

Christopher T. Koehnke is a shareholder with Von Briesen & Roper, S.C. in Milwaukee, where he focuses on restructuring, insolvency and commercial litigation. He represents lenders and other creditors with respect to state court chapter 128 receivership proceedings, including issues related to lien priority, asset disposition and settlement of preference claims; guiding clients through the process of enforcing Article 9 remedies in equipment and other assets through state court replevin litigation; and advising creditors and defending claims made under the FDCPA or the Wisconsin Consumer Act. He also works with contractors, subcontractors, developers and owners in disputes involving commercial and residential projects, construction defects, theft by contractor and construction liens. Mr. Koehnke is a member of the Government Law Group and has experience representing governmental clients in courts throughout Wisconsin. He previously served as the assistant Village attorney for the Villages of Elm Grove, Lannon, Hartland and Lac La Belle, and he also served as interim assistant city attorney for the City of West Allis. Mr. Koehnke was listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Bankruptcy and Creditor/Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law, Commercial Litigation and Litigation - Real Estate for 2025. He is a member of ABI, the State Bar of Wisconsin, the Bankruptcy Section of the Milwaukee Bar Association and the Turnaround Management Association. Mr. Koehnke received his B.A. in 2004 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his J.D. in 2009 from the William Mitchell College of Law.
