David S. Kupetz

David S. Kupetz is a partner with Locke Lord LLP in Los Angeles and has more than 35 years of experience in distressed transactions, crisis-avoidance consultation, workouts, restructurings, reorganizations, bankruptcies, receiverships, assignments for the benefit of creditors, creditor rights, and other non bankruptcy insolvency solutions and related transactions and litigation. He represents debtors in restructurings, workouts and chapter 11 reorganization cases, secured creditors, unsecured creditors’ committees, assignees for the benefit of creditors, buyers/sellers of businesses/assets in distressed circumstances, and other entities in insolvency and bankruptcy situations. Mr. Kupetz works across industries, including finance and financial services, consumer goods, franchises, manufacturing, retail, health care, hospitality and technology, media, and telecommunications. His many articles on bankruptcy-related subjects have been published in local and national publications; he is the author of the Collier Handbook forCreditors’ Committees and authored Collier Commercial Bankruptcy Forms for many years. He also is a frequent lecturer on reorganization and other insolvency topics. Mr. Kupetz was listed in The Best Lawye rs in America for Bankruptcy and Creditor/Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law for 2023, and in California Super Lawyers for Bankruptcy from 2005-23. He received his B.A. in 1983from the University of California, Santa Barbara and his J.D. in 1986 from the University of California,San Francisco College of the Law.
