
Hon. Arthur B. Federman
Arthur B. Federman is a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Western District of Missouri in Kansas City, appointed on Dec. 18, 1989, and reappointed in 2003. He currently serves as Chief Judge of the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the Eighth Circuit in Kansas City, and was a member of the Committee on Codes of Conduct of the Judicial Conference of the United States for six years, ending in 2015. Upon graduation from law school, he worked as a trial attorney in the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. From 1979-89, Judge Federman was in private practice in Kansas City and served as a panel trustee for the Western District of Missouri. While in private practice, he represented debtors, creditors and creditors' committees in chapter 7, 11, 12 and 13 cases. Judge Federman became a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy in 2003. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1973 and from the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law in 1976 with distinction, where he was elected to the Order of the Bench and Robe and was an associate editor of its law review.
