Hon. James J. Robinson

James J. Robinson is a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Northern District of Alabama in Anniston, appointed Feb. 16, 2006. Prior to his appointment to the bench, he was an equity partner with Burr & Forman LLP in Birmingham, Ala., where he focused on bankruptcy, commercial and business litigation involving banking, lending, real estate, securitized debt and lender liability issues. His clients included banks, heavy and light industrial manufacturers, heavy-equipment vendors, insurance companies, state retirement funds, commercial finance companies, commercial mortgage lenders, mortgage bankers and individuals. Judge Robinson is admitted to practice in Alabama and before the Eleventh and Fifth U.S. Courts of Appeals, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama. He is an ABI member, a frequent speaker on bankruptcy, banking law and commercial real es- tate, and a former adjunct professor at Samford University Cumberland School of Law. Judge Robinson received his B.B.A. in 1971 with a major in finance from Georgia State University and his J.D. summa cum laude in 1974 from Samford University Cumberland School of Law, where he was an executive editor of the Cumberland-Samford Law Review.
