Hon. Kyu Y. (Mike) Paek

<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Hon. Kyu Y. (Mike) Paek</strong> is a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of New York in New York, sworn in on July 29, 2024. From 2008-12, he had practiced with the law firm of Schulte Roth &amp; Zabel LLP in New York, then from 2012-21, he worked for two Southern District Bankruptcy Judges: first with Hon. James M. Peck (ret.) as a term law clerk, then with Hon. Stuart M. Bernstein (ret.) as a career law clerk. Leading up to his appointment, Judge Paek served as the chief deputy clerk of court for the Southern District Bankruptcy Court. Judge Paek was honored as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40” in 2021 and was awarded the Honorable Denny Chin ’78 Alumni Award for Excellence in the Legal Profession. He has written several articles for such publications as the <em>ABI Journal </em>(for which he serves as coordinating editor), <em>Norton Journal of Bankruptcy Law &amp; Practice</em> and <em>Norton Bankruptcy Law Adviser</em>. He also co-authors a chapter in the <em>Collier Bankruptcy Practice Guide</em>. Judge Paek is an adjunct professor at Fordham University School of Law, where he teaches advanced business bankruptcy. He received his B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2004 and his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 2008.</p>
