
Hon. Margaret M. Mann
Hon. Margaret M. Mann is a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of California in San Diego, appointed on April 2, 2010, and chaired the 2016 Ninth Circuit Conference Executive Committee after serving as the program chair on the Executive Committee in 2015. She is currently the Ninth Circuit representative to the Bankruptcy Judges Advisory Committee of the U.S. Administrative Office and to the board of directors of the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges. Since her appointment,\nJudge Mann has spoken before numerous professional associations, including as a faculty member for\nFederal Judicial Center Education programs, the California Bankruptcy Forum, the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, ABI, the American Bar Association and the American College of Bankruptcy. She is on the board of directors for the national Credit Abuse Resistance Education (CARE) program, is a Fellow with the American College of Bankruptcy and is a founding member of the San Diego Bankruptcy Forum. Before becoming a judge, Judge Mann was listed in The Best Lawyers in America\nand served leadership roles in numerous bankruptcy and civic organizations. She was also a partner at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP and Heller Ehrman LLP. Judge Mann received her B.A. in finance cum laude from the University of Illinois in 1978 with distinction, attended the Tilburg School of Economics in The Netherlands in 1978, and received her J.D. in 1981 from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.
