
Hon. Stuart M. Bernstein
Hon. Stuart M. Bernstein was sworn in as a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of\nNew York in New York on Nov. 24, 1993, and served as Chief Judge for 10 years. He also served as a member of the Judicial Conference Committee on the Administration of the Bankruptcy System from 2006-12, and currently serves as a member of the of Advisory Committee on Bankruptcy Rules. Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Bernstein practiced with the Manhattan law firm\nof Kensington & Ressler P.C. and also served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District\nof New York. In addition to his judicial duties, he has served as an adjunct professor of law at the Cardozo Law School and St. John?s Law School, authored several articles and lectured on behalf of ALI-ABA, ABI, the New York State Bar Association and the Georgetown Law Center. Judge Bernstein is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the American Bar As-\nsociation and the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and a member of the International Insolvency Institute and INSOL International. Judge Bernstein received his B.A. cum laude from Queens College and his J.D. cum laude from Fordham Law School, where he was a member of its law review.
