J. Robert Williamson

J. Robert Williamson has been the managing shareholder of Scroggins, Williamson & Ray, P.C. in Atlanta since its formation in 1993 and has practiced law for 40 years. Prior to that time, he practiced with the law firms of King & Spalding in Atlanta and Stichter, Riedel, Blain & Prosser in Tampa, Fla. Mr. Williamson is admitted to the bars of Georgia, Florida and West Virginia. He specializes in business workouts and reorganizations, both in and out of bankruptcy court, and the litigation of issues concerning creditor and debtor rights. He has advised and represented a wide variety of parties, including business debtors, asset-purchasers, trustees, secured creditors, official committees, and litigants in preference and fraudulent transfer actions. Mr. Williamson is on the board of directors of the Southeastern Bankruptcy Law Institute, and has served as its president and chair. He also has chaired the Bankruptcy Section of the State Bar of Georgia, and has sat on the board of the Atlanta Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Section. In addition, he has served as counselor of the W. Homer Drake, Jr. Bankruptcy American Inn of Court. Mr. Williamson is recognized as a leading Georgia bankruptcy practitioner in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Bankruptcy. He has been recognized as a Georgia Super Lawyer in Bankruptcy & Workouts since 2005, and he has been a frequent speaker on bankruptcy-related topics at CLE programs. Mr. Williamson received his B.S. from Vanderbilt University in 1983 and his J.D. from West Virginia University in 1986.
