Bio

Hon. Jonathan W. Jordan is a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Northern District of Georgia in Atlanta, appointed on Sept. 22, 2025. He began his career at Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP in Houston, where he spent seven years practicing bankruptcy, commercial litigation and product-liability defense litigation. Judge Jordan also worked at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison’s Austin, Texas, office as a commercial and bankruptcy litigator, and in 2001 he moved to the Atlanta area, where he worked in the bankruptcy group at Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy LLP. In 2003, he moved to the bankruptcy and restructuring group at Atlanta’s King & Spalding LLP, where he worked for 22 years before taking the bench. During this time, he handled debtor and creditor-side work, including receiverships, guarantor suits, vendor issues, and avoidance actions. Judge Jordan received his B.S. in business in 1989 from Samford University and his J.D. in 1992 from Vanderbilt Law School.
