Bio

Kurt M. Carlson is a managing member of Carlson Dash LLC in Chicago and represents clients in corporate matters, business disputes, corporate workouts and business bankruptcy cases. He has handled matters involving fraud, D&O claims, contract disputes, avoidance actions, defamation, lender liability and more. Mr. Carlson works with a variety of clients, including franchisors and franchisees, cooperatives, manufacturers, retailers, distributors, landlords, developers, private-equity groups, professional service providers and financial institutions. He has been involved in more than 480 business bankruptcy cases, and his experience has helped him develop strategies that maximize value and results for his clients. Early in his career, he served on the Bankruptcy Court Liaison Committee of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois, helping improve communication and collaboration between bankruptcy practitioners and judges. He is a frequent speaker on litigation, corporate transactions and insolvency matters, and he has authored numerous articles and policy manuals for corporate clients. Mr. Carlson one of the original editors of ABI’s Volo Circuit Court Opinion for the Seventh Circuit. He has been listed in Super Lawyers and by the Leading Lawyers Network as a top Illinois attorney in commercial bankruptcy, workout law and creditors’ rights since 2008. Mr. Carlson received his B.A. in 1987 from Michigan State University and his J.D. in 1990 from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
