Mark R. Owens

Mark R. Owens is a partner at Barnes & Thornburg LLP and chairs the firm’s Restructuring and Bankruptcy Department in Indianapolis, where he counsels secured and unsecured creditors, creditors’ committees, special servicers and other stakeholders in complex workouts, loan restructurings, bankruptcies and related litigation. He represents clients in multijurisdictional matters — including § 363 sales, preference and fraudulent-transfer defenses, repossessions, collections and UCC issues — and chairs the firm’s national Motorsports team, advising drivers, teams, sponsors and industry constituents on commercial contracts and related disputes. Mr. Owens has handled matters in courts and bankruptcy courts across numerous jurisdictions and is admitted in several state and federal courts. He received his B.B.A. magna cum laude in 1995 from Wilkes University, his M.Ed. in 1999 from Bloomsburg University, and his J.D. cum laude in 1999 from Widener University Delaware Law School.
