Bio

Matthew Michael Weiss is a partner with Parker, Hudson, Rainer & Dobbs LLP in Atlanta, where he helps creditors successfully navigate bankruptcy and restructuring matters, with a focus on creditors’ rights and insolvency-related litigation in bankruptcy, federal and state courts. His experience includes all phases of chapter 7 and 11 bankruptcies, representing secured and unsecured creditors as well as debtors and other parties-in-interest. Mr. Weiss has represented creditors in foreclosure confirmation proceedings, UCC Article 9 sales, suits on notes and guarantees — in amounts exceeding $25 million — and equitable receivership proceedings in state and federal courts. His clients also call on him to assist with related commercial litigation, such as the defense of fiduciaries and trustees, as well as contract disputes. His litigation experience further extends to government-related litigation, such as bid protests and zoning appeals, and he has assisted with internal investigations related to federal regulatory compliance issues. Mr. Weiss also has developed an emerging political law practice, serving as Deputy General Counsel for the Democratic Party of Georgia and representing elected officials with investigations and compliance issues in front of the Georgia Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission. He received his B.S. in political science in 2005 from the University of Georgia, and his J.D. in 2008 from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he served as executive Notes editor of the Georgia Law Review.
