Bio
Michael E. Hastings is a principal at Woods Rogers Vandeventer Black PLC in Roanoke, Va., and chairs its Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights Practice Group. He is recognized in Band 1 by Chambers USA for his bankruptcy work in Virginia. For more than three decades, Mr. Hastings has counseled borrowers, commercial lenders and private-equity investors on creative strategies for financially distressed businesses, handling both court-supervised and out-of-court restructurings and liquidations. His practice spans bankruptcy proceedings, federal and state court receiverships, and statutory dissolutions, and includes representing sellers and purchasers of distressed assets — from Article 9 personal-property foreclosures to foreclosure and sale of real estate under mortgages and deeds of trust. Mr. Hastings received his B.B.A. cum laude from Eastern New Mexico University and his J.D. from Washington & Lee University School of Law.
