Michael Michael Halfenger

Hon. G. Michael Halfenger is a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, initially appointed on Jan. 11, 2013. He served as Chief Judge from Jan. 1, 2019, to Dec. 31, 2025. Previously, he was a partner with Foley & Lardner LLP, practicing commercial litigation out of its Milwaukee office. Judge Halfenger received his B.A. summa cum laude from Lawrence University and his J.D. with honors from the University of Chicago Law School. Following law school, he clerked for Hon. Frank H. Easterbrook of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
