Michael T. Bates, Esq.

Michael T. Bates is the senior managing attorney in the Bankruptcy Compliance group at Robertson, Anschutz, Schneid, Crane & Partners, PLLC (RAS) in Ames, Iowa. Prior to joining RAS, he was the executive director and managing attorney at USAA Federal Savings Bank, where he provided support to the bank’s Member Debt Solutions Team on issues pertaining to consumer bankruptcy, collections, repossessions, foreclosures and other default-related servicing issues. Prior to joining USAA, Mr. Bates was a vice president and assistant general counsel at JPMorgan Chase & Co., where he provided legal advice to Chase’s mortgage banking bankruptcy group and served as a commissioner on the ABI Consumer Bankruptcy Commission. He also served for more than 21 years as a senior vice president and senior company counsel at Wells Fargo & Co., where he provided legal advice to all of Wells Fargo’s consumer bankruptcy groups. He is admitted to practice in Texas, Minnesota and Iowa. Mr. Bates received his undergraduate degree from Iowa State University and his J.D. with honors from Hamline University School of Law.
