Eric E. Johnson is a member of Sherman & Howard L.L.C. in Denver, where he focuses his practice on bankruptcy and insolvency, financial restructuring and creditors? rights. He has has 33 years of experience in distressed merger and acquisition transactions; mining, oil and gas loans and workouts; asset based and structured financing deals; corporate and real estate loans and restructuring arrangements; intellectual property sales, licensing and financing matters; sports franchise restructurings and sales; and corporate governance and fiduciary duty counseling. He recently represented Dominion Voting Systems in successfully defending against a substantive consolidation claim in the Colorado Bankruptcy Court,\nand was appointed by the Securities Investor Protection Corp. as counsel to the trustee for the liquidation of a regional securities broker-dealer, where he successfully satisfied all claims of the brokerage?s defrauded customers. Mr. Johnson has spoken to many groups and written numerous articles on bankruptcy fundamentals, buying troubled companies and their assets, real estate workouts, oil and gas issues in bankruptcy, sports franchise workouts, and the intersection of intellectual property and bankruptcy. He received his B.A. summa cum laude with distinction in chemistry from Grinnell College in 1982, where he was awarded the President?s Medal as an outstanding member of the class of 1982 and was a\nmember of Phi Beta Kappa, and his J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1985.
