
Mr. Evan B. Blum
Evan B. Blum is a managing director of Business Restructuring & Turnaround Services at BDO USA, LLC in Woodbridge, N.J., where he provides financial advisory, interim management and turnaround consulting services. He has more than 20 years of experience representing clients on restructuring matters, including assignments in and out of court. Mr. Blum is known for taking a hands-on approach to issues and resolving complex cases creatively. He has a nationwide practice and has handled international matters in Europe, Asia and Latin America. Mr. Blum represents management teams, lenders and other stakeholders in situations requiring operational and financial restructuring services. He has managed liquidity and business plan issues, as well as negotiated complex balance sheet restructurings and recapitalizations. Mr. Blum focuses on middle-market assignments across a wide range of industries, including media, telecommunications, retail, distribution, financial services, leasing, grocery, food processing, real estate/hospitality, building products, construction and coal mining. He is experienced in fiduciary matters as well, and in numerous cases has represented lenders and creditors? committees in examining asset-transfers and insider transactions. He also has been selected as financial advisor to chapter 7 and chapter 11 trustees in bankruptcy matters. Previously, Mr. Blum was a managing director in A&M?s Turnaround and Restructuring Group, where he worked extensively with private-equity-backed companies. He headed the New York office of GlassRatner Advisory & Capital Group, where he was responsible for originating and executing restructuring matters. Prior to that, he was a managing member of Triax Capital Advisors, where he served as a CRO on various assignments. He also spent eight years as a media and telecom investment banker at Communications Equity Associates and Merrill Lynch, and began his career in HSBC?s credit training program. Mr. Blum is a member of ABI and the Turnaround Management Association. He received his B.A. from Cornell University, where he received the Arts & Sciences Dean?s Award, and his M.B.A. from Columbia Business School with a concentration in finance and international business, where he graduated with Beta Gamma Sigma honors.
