Mr. Garrett A. Fail
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Garrett A. Fail</strong> is a partner in Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP’s Restructuring Department in New York, where his practice covers all aspects of domestic and international debt restructurings, as well as crisis-management and corporate governance. He has experience representing companies in distress, creditors, buyers and sellers, DIP lenders, and investors across a variety of industries in chapter 11 cases and in out-of-court debt restructurings. He also has lectured frequently and written articles on numerous occasions on bankruptcy topics. Most recently in 2025, Mr. Fail was recognized among the 500 Leading Global Bankruptcy & Restructuring Lawyers by <em>Lawdragon</em>. He was also named a “Notable Practitioner” for Restructuring and Insolvency in the U.S. by <em>IFLR1000</em> (2022-24) and a Leading Lawyer by <em>Legal 500</em> (2022-24). In 2020, he was named a “Rising Star” for Restructuring and Insolvency in the U.S. by <em>IFLR1000</em> (2019-20) and named a Next Generation Partner by <em>Legal 500</em> (2019-20). Mr. Fail also was named to <em>Benchmark Litigation</em>’s 40 & Under 40 from 2016-18, and he received The M&A Advisor 40 Under 40 Recognition Award and the <em>Turnarounds & Workouts</em> Outstanding Young Restructuring Lawyers Award. In 2017, he was awarded Turnaround of the Year: Mega Company by Turnaround Management Association for his work on the restructuring of Aéropostale Inc., and in 2016 he was named to “40 Under 40 Insolvency and Restructuring Lawyers” by <em>Global Restructuring Review</em>. Mr. Fail received his B.S. in 2000 from Cornell University and his J.D. in 2003 from New York University School of Law.</p>
