Mr. James R. Murray

James R. Murray is a partner in Dickstein Shapiro LLP's Insurance Coverage Group in Washington, D.C., and a member of the firm's Executive Committee. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American College of Coverage and Extracontractual Counsel, and he is listed in the National Trial Lawyers' "Top 100 Trial Lawyers" for the District of Columbia (Civil). Mr. Murray has assisted clients in securing more than $400 million in insurance recoveries in the last two years and well over $1 billion in the last decade on matters involving almost every line of insurance. In 2013 and 2011, Law360 named him an MVP in Insurance Coverage (one of only two insurance coverage attor- neys ever to receive this recognition twice). Mr. Murray is admitted to the District of Columbia, New York and Washington Bar Associations, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southerm District of New York, the Eastern and Western Districts of Washington, and the District of Columbia, as well as the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the First, Third, Fourth and Ninth Circuits and the U.S. Supreme Court. He received undergraduate degrees from the University of Montana and Oxford University under a Rhodes scholarship, and his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1981.
