Mr. Ricky G. Mason

Richard G. Mason has been a partner in the Restructuring and Finance Department of Wachtell, Lip- ton, Rosen & Katz in New York since 1994 and is active in all aspects of the firm's insolvency practice. He has had leading roles in many of the largest and most complex bankruptcies and out-of-court re- structurings during that time, including Energy Future Holdings, Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA), Hawker Beechcraft, Kerzner International, FairPoint Communications, Masonite, Spectrum Brands and Delphi Corp. Mr. Mason represents bank and bondholder groups, acquirers, distressed in- vestors, boards of directors, private-equity sponsors and other significant creditors and shareholders in domestic and international matters. Mr. Mason is a co-author of Collier's Bankruptcy Practice Guide and has presented at numerous seminars on bankruptcy for the Practising Law Institute, LUISS Guido Carli, the Canadian Institute, the ABI/NYU School of Law Bankruptcy and Business Reorganization Workshop, the NYU Pollack Center for Law and Business, Columbia University Business School, Co- lumbia University Law School and other prominent organizations. He is listed in the Chambers USA Guide to America's Leading Business Lawyers as one of the leading insolvency lawyers in the U.S. and in the K&A Restructuring Register as one of the top 100 restructuring advisors in the U.S. Mr. Mason is a past co-chair of the Secured Transactions & Insolvency Committee of the ABA Section of International Law, a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy and a co-chair of the Bankruptcy and Reorga- nization Group of the UJA-Federation of New York's Lawyers Division. He is also a conferee of the National Bankruptcy Conference, whose primary purpose is to advise the U.S. Congress on bankruptcy law. Mr. Mason received his B.S. magna cum laude in economics in 1983 from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi honor fraternity, and his J.D. cum laude in 1987 from New York University, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and was on the staff of the Annual Survey of American Law.
