Mr. Robert A. Weber

Robert A. Weber is counsel in the Wilmington, Del., office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in the firm?s Corporate Restructuring Group. His practice focuses on complex restructurings and commercial litigation. Mr. Weber has experience representing debtors, creditors, trustees, directors and other parties both in and out of chapter 11 bankruptcy. His most recent representations include PPL Corp. in litigation over its 2015 spinoff of Talen Energy Corp.; Peter Thiel and Thiel Capital in the chapter 11 proceedings of Gawker Media; the asset-purchaser in Katy Industries, named The M&A Advisor?s 2017 Distressed M&A Deal of the Year ($50M to $100M); Nortel Networks S.A. in securing a favor- able settlement regarding the allocation of $7.3 billion of asset-sale proceeds in the Nortel bankruptcy cases, which was named The American Lawyer?s 2017 Grand Prize for Disputes; and SunEdison in deal litigation relating to the $130 million sale of its solar materials business and in appeals relating to its confirmed chapter 11 plan and related financing transactions. His other debtor representations include Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc., Refco, Inc., Aurora Foods Inc., SLI, Inc., Lenox Health Care, Inter- state Bakeries and Vlasic Foods International. Mr. Weber also represented a privately held company in the defense and settlement of a debtor?s billion-dollar infringement action, derivatives counterparties in Lehman Brothers, secured lenders in Source Interlink Companies and Tropicana Entertainment, minor- ity investors in a corporate control dispute in the Delaware Court of Chancery, a national retailer in the General Growth Properties and Footstar chapter 11 cases, and a lender in a case of first impression in the District of Maryland involving contractual waivers of the automatic stay. Mr. Weber has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law and Litigation-Bankruptcy) since 2017, is active in a number of professional organizations, including ABI, the Turnaround Management Association and the Federal Bar Association, and is committed to pro bono matters. Mr. Weber received his B.A. from West Virginia University in 1998 and his J.D. from Washington & Lee University School of Law in 1991.
