Mr. William J. Factor

William J. Factor is a principal of The Law Office of William J. Factor, Ltd., dba FactorLaw, in North- brook, Ill., where he focuses on representing businesses, trustees and individuals in bankruptcy (debtors and creditors) and commercial litigation matters. Prior to that, he was an equity partner in the national law firm of Seyfarth Shaw LLP, where he concentrated his practice in bankruptcy and commercial liti- gation, counseling and commercial transactions. Before joining Seyfarth Shaw in 1995, Mr. Factor was an associate in the bankruptcy practice group at Sidley Austin LLP in Chicago. In commercial litigation matters, he regularly represents individuals and corporations, including 501(c)(3) entities and financial institutions, trying to recover obligations owed to them or defending claims that have been asserted against them. His practice includes state and federal court proceedings, arbitrations and mediations. Mr. Factor also has extensive experience representing parties in chapter 7, chapter 11 and chapter 13 pro- ceedings and litigation, including trustees, debtors (both consumer and corporate), debtors-in-posses- sion, creditors' committees, equity committees, trade creditors, indenture trustees and secured creditors. He is a member of ABI, the Turnaround Management Association, the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association. Mr. Factor received his undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago in 1983 and his J.D. with high honors, from DePaul College of Law in 1990, where he was a member of Order of the Coif and the DePaul Law Review.
