Ms. Betsy Brand Six

Betsy Brand Six is a clinical associate professor at the University of Kansas School of Law in Lawrence, Kan., where she teaches lawyering skills, a class that combines the teaching of traditional legal research and writing with additional lawyering skills such as client interviewing and negotiation. She is also the director of the Academic Resources Program for the law school, providing academic sup- port to students. In that role, she teaches an advanced legal analysis class. In addition, she serves as the law school's director of Diversity and Inclusion. Prof. Six was selected to participate in both the Best Practices Institute and Faculty Seminar at the University of Kansas's Center for Teaching Excellence and in 2015 was awarded the Robert A. Schroeder Teaching Fellowship. Previously, she was with the Kansas City law firm of Spencer Fane Britt & Browne, where she practiced environmental law for 13 years, frequently deferring to the expertise of the bankruptcy lawyers in the firm when necessary. She has also worked with lawyers and paralegals at several Kansas City law firms to improve their legal writing skills. Prof. Six received her J.D. from Stanford Law School, where she was a member of the Stanford Law Review.
