Ms. Carren B. Shulman

Carren B. Shulman is a partner with Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP's Finance and Bank- ruptcy Practice Group and a member of its executive committee in New York, where she focuses her practice on bankruptcy and business reorganization, commercial litigation and creditors' rights. She has more than 20 years of experience representing financial institutions, private-equity funds, OEMs, Fortune 300 and middle-market businesses. She also strategizes with her clients on contract drafting to protect their legal interests in the event of a potential bankruptcy or liquidation, and her expertise spans such industries as aerospace and transportation, hospitality, mortgage banking and finance, life sci- ences, health care and retail. For the last six years, Ms. Shulman has been a delegate for IWIRC to UN- CITRAL's Working Group V, which recommends modifications to the International Model Bankruptcy Code that promotes comity among nations, which exists in the U.S. as chapter 15. She is a frequent speaker on domestic and international bankruptcy law, restructuring, foreclosures and receiverships, and is president of the Law Alumni Association Board of NYU School of Law. In 2014, Ms. Shulman was presented with the Melnik Award for Exceptional Contribution by the International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation. She received her B.A.magna cum laude from the State University of New York in 1988 and her J.D. from New York University Law School in 1991.
