Bio
Nisha R. Patel is the career law clerk to Hon. Elizabeth L. Gunn of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Columbia in Washington, D.C. Prior to clerking, she was a trial attorney with the U.S. Trustee Program in Richmond, Va., and the staff attorney for Kelly M. Barnhart, Chapter 13 Trustee for the Eastern District of Virginia (Norfolk and Newport News Divisions). A 2022 NCBJ Blackshear Fellow and 2020 recipient of the American Bankruptcy Institute’s “40 Under 40” honors, Ms. Patel is the immediate past chair of the IWIRC Virginia Network. She received her undergraduate degrees with honors from Michigan State University in 2008 and her J.D. from the University of Richmond in 2011.
