Bio

Samantha M. Ruben is a managing associate with Dentons in Chicago and a member of Dentons’ Restructuring Insolvency and Bankruptcy practice. She specializes in bankruptcy, financial restructuring and insurance law. With a unique focus on nonpayment insurance (NPI), Ms. Ruben helps financial institutions mitigate credit risks and strategically manage capital requirements. She represents a wide range of stakeholders, including debtors, investment bankers, creditors, insurers and distressed-asset buyers, in complex bankruptcy cases and commercial litigation. Before joining Dentons, Ms. Ruben served as a judicial law clerk for Bankruptcy Judge Benjamin Kahn, where she gained hands-on experience with chapter 7, 11, 12 and 13 cases. She has earned recognition as an emerging leader in her field, receiving the Turnaround Management Associations’ Chicago/Midwest Chapter’s 2024 Emerging Leader Award and being named one of The Best Lawyers in America’s “Ones to Watch” for 2025 in restructuring and insurance law. Ms. Ruben is co-chair of the Turnaround Management Association Chicago/Midwest Chapter’s Membership Committee, and she serves as Membership chair of the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC), Communications Coordinator of ABI’s Health Care Committee and events chair of the Northern District of Illinois Bankruptcy Court’s Liaison Committee. She received her B.A. in economics and international studies in 2016, and her J.D. in 2019 magna cum laude from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she was admitted to the Order of the Coif.
