Tiffany Strelow Cobb

Tiffany Strelow Cobb was appointed on August 20, 2025, by the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit as a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of Ohio. Judge Cobb filled the position vacated created by Judge John E. Hoffman, Jr. upon his retirement.

After graduating from Washington University School of Law, Tiffany began her legal career as a litigator, practicing at the former Coburn & Croft, now Thompson Coburn in St. Louis, Missouri. She later moved to Columbus, Ohio to marry her now husband, practicing law at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP for over 27 years. While at Vorys, Tiffany initially practiced in the firm’s litigation group, later shifting to a bankruptcy-focused practice, becoming a partner and chair of the firm’s bankruptcy and creditors’ rights practice group. In private practice, Tiffany represented unsecured creditors, secured creditors, trustees, creditors’ committees, critical vendors, executory contract counterparties, landlords, and other parties in interest in chapter 11 reorganization cases, chapter 7 cases and in related litigation on a national basis and acted as co-counsel on an international basis. Highlights included successfully defending bank clients to overcome the presumption of insolvency in a multi-day trial before the Honarable Kevin J. Carey in Delaware; consensually resolving complex matters such as the WR Grace settlement with a large supplier; and representing one of the largest OEMs in the Takata bankruptcy case. She most enjoyed working towards consensus and completed the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, Mediating the Litigated Case, to enhance resolution skills.

Judge Cobb is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy. She was recognized by The Best Lawyers in America (including the 2024 “Lawyer of the Year” in Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization Law) and was also ranked by Chambers and Partners. Judge Cobb is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) and served as a cochair of the ABI Midwest Regional Bankruptcy Conference for two years. She also filled leadership roles on her Court’s Attorney Advisory Committee and Mediation Project Committee.

Born in northern California and raised in the D.C. and New York suburbs, Tiffany is now a forever OSU Buckeye fan, firmly planted in Columbus, Ohio, where she has loved raising her two (now adult) children with Randy. She regularly travels to southern California, where her son, parents and a majority of her extended family now live.
