Tiffany Strelow Cobb

Hon. Tiffany Strelow Cobb is a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of Ohio in Columbus, appointed on Aug. 20, 2025, by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. She filled the position vacated created by Judge John E. Hoffman, Jr. upon his retirement. Judge Cobb began her legal career as a litigator, practicing at the former Coburn & Croft, now Thompson Coburn in St. Louis, Mo. She later moved to Columbus and practiced law at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP for more than 27 years. While at Vorys, she initially practiced in the firm’s litigation group, later shifting to a bankruptcy-focused practice, becoming a partner and chair of the firm’s bankruptcy and creditors’ rights practice group. In private practice, Judge Cobb represented unsecured creditors, secured creditors, trustees, creditors’ committees, critical vendors, executory contract counterparties, landlords, and other parties in interest in chapter 11 reorganization cases, chapter 7 cases and in related litigation on a national basis and acted as co-counsel on an international basis. She successfully defended bank clients to overcome the presumption of insolvency in a multi-day trial before Hon. Kevin J. Carey in Delawareconsensually resolved complex matters such as the WR Grace settlement with a large supplier, and represented one of the largest OEMs in the Takata bankruptcy case. She also completed the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution. Judge Cobb is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and was recognized in The Best Lawyers in America (including as the 2024 “Lawyer of the Year” for Bankruptcy and Creditor/Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law), and she was ranked by Chambers and Partners. She also is an ABI member and served as a co-chair of its Midwest Regional Bankruptcy Seminar for two years, as well as filled leadership roles on her Court’s Attorney Advisory Committee and Mediation Project Committee. Judge Cobb received her B.A. with highest honors from Principia College and her J.D. from Washington University School of Law.
