William J. McLeod

William J. McLeod is an Assistant General Counsel with the Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents where he represents both the Mass DIA and the Workers' Compensation Trust Fund in bankruptcy and creditor's rights matters. Prior to joining the Department, he was the pro se law clerk for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts in Boston, where he assisted pro se debtors and creditors navigate through the bankruptcy process and worked with local bar leaders throughout the state on pro bono programs for indigent and disadvantaged persons. Prior to joining the bankruptcy court in 2011, Mr. McLeod was in private practice in Boston representing debtors and creditors in bankruptcy matters. He is the author of Chapter 13 in 13 Chapters (ABI, 2009), as well as many legal articles on insolvency matters, and he has presented on panels for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, the Massachusetts and Boston Bar Associations, and ABI. Mr. McLeod is the past co-chair of the Consumer and the Education subcommittees of the Bankruptcy Section of the Boston Bar Association, and in December 2014, he was recognized by the Massachusetts Association of Women Lawyers as an "Unsung Hero of the Legal Community." He is a graduate of Salve Regina College (n.k.a. Salve Regina University) and Western New England College School of Law (n.k.a. Western New England University).
