Mr. Kenneth J. Malek

Kenneth J. Malek, CRA, CIRA, CDBV, CFF, CGMA, CTP is the president of MalekRemian LLC in Libertyville, Ill., a consulting firm near metropolitan Chicago. He has more than 35 years of experience providing expert testimony, valuation, turnaround, financial and accounting investigation and transaction advice. Mr. Malek has been engaged as an advisor in a number of industries, including airlines/travel & leisure, automobile dealers and manufacturers, energy, financial services, industrial services, manufacturing and distribution, real estate and construction. He has served as financial advisor to debt-\nors, trustees and creditors? committees in a number of significant bankruptcy proceedings. Mr. Malek has been retained as a court-appointed examiner and has testified as an expert in the U.S. District Courts of Delaware, Illinois and Texas, in the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts of Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan and Virginia, in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and in arbitration proceedings. The matters on which he has been engaged as an expert include a variety of valuation, damages, financial investigation and transaction-structuring subjects, including tax-shield maximization. Among Mr. Malek?s valuation clients have been a number of publicly held enterprises, closely held SMBs, family wealth managers and private-equity funds. He has authored hundreds of valuation opinions for transaction structuring, trans-\naction pricing, financial reporting and tax purposes. He has also been a regular instructor in the Certificate in Distressed Business Valuation and Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor Certification Programs of the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors. Mr. Malek received his B.S.C. in accounting in 1976 and his M.D. in taxation in 1978 from DePaul University.
