Mr. Donald R. Kirk

Donald R. Kirk is a shareholder with Carlton Fields Jorden Burt, P.A. in Tampa, Fla., and leads the firm's bankruptcy and creditors' rights practice. He represents clients in high-value bankruptcy and creditors' rights litigation, complex workouts, financial restructurings, asset sales, commercial litigation and contract disputes. He also represents secured lenders, unsecured creditors, vendors and purchas- ers of assets from troubled companies, and counsels debtors, trustees, creditors' committees and other stakeholders in multiparty disputes and reorganizations. In addition to representing businesses in all aspects of chapter 11-related litigation, Mr. Kirk provides guidance on ways to identify and mitigate bankruptcy risk, and works with clients on both in-court and out-of-court debt restructurings. His clients span a broad range of industries, from financial services, manufacturing and real estate to consumer products and restaurants. He has handled matters in numerous state and federal courts, including those in Delaware, New York, California, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. Mr. Kirk is Board Certi- fied in Business Bankruptcy Law by the American Board of Certification. He is the former president of the Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar Association and currently chairs the American Bar Association Model Bankruptcy APA Task Force, the Florida Bar Proceeding Supplementary Task Force, and the U.S. Bank- ruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida Local Rules Committee. Mr. Kirk received his B.A. from the University of Florida in 1983 and his J.D. with high honors from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 1996, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif.
