Hon. Robert G. Mayer

Robert G. Mayer is a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia in Alexandria, appointed on Oct. 15, 1999. Prior to taking the bench, he practiced with a private firm in Northern Vir- ginia and clerked for the Virginia Supreme Court. He also served as a member of the panel of trustees for the Eastern District of Virginia in Alexandria for 14 years, representing clients in chapter 7, 11 and 13 cases. Judge Mayer is a member of the Walter Chandler American Inn of Court and the Virginia and Washington, D.C., Bar Associations, as well as a member of the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges and ABI. He is certified in Business and Consumer Bankruptcy by the American Board of Cer- tification and is a frequent speaker in CLE programs. Judge Mayer received his undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School.
