Prior to joining Whiteford Taylor &Preston as Senior Counsel, Marc was a longtime partner and co-chair of the Business Reorganization and Restructuring Department of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP in New York, where he has been instrumental, principally on behalf of debtors, in several complex multinational bankruptcy cases and nonjudicial restructurings. Has served as member of firm's Executive Committee and is a member of its European Com- mittee, co-directing firm's London based restructuring practice. Mr. Abrams has extensive experience representing creditors' committees and unofficial groups, opportunistic and strategic investors, purchasers and lenders. He is a recognized expert and key advisor in cross-border representations involving foreign insolvency regimes and related cases under the Bankruptcy Code, including chapter 15 cases. He also represents company-side clients in numerous complex chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings, including seminal cases such as Adelphia Communications Corp., Angiotech Pharmaceuticals (chapter 15) and Teksid, Inc. Mr. Abrams has represented numerous successful bidders in court-supervised auctions, including the sale of Delphi Corp. Chambers USA and Chambers Global consistently rank him among the leading individuals specializing in Bank- ruptcy/Restructuring Law in the U.S. In 2011, Mr. Abrams received the Prof. Lawrence P. King Award for his achievements in bankruptcy law and his leadership in philanthropy. He is a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy and a former member of its Board of Regents (2010-14), as well as a member of the International Insolvency Institute and ABI. He also serves as a contributing editor for Collier on Bankruptcy and is a certified mediator for the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the Southern District of New York and the District of Delaware. In addition, he serves on the advisory board of ABI's Views from the Bench program. Mr. Abrams received his J.D. cum laude from Wid- ener University in 1978 and his B.A. cum laude from Villanova University in 1975.
