Dr. H. Philipp Esser

H. Philipp Esser is an attorney and director with the law firm of Schultze & Braun in Achern, Germany. He specializes in German-American cross-border insolvencies, giving strategic legal advice to distressed-debt investors, financial instruments in insolvency and distressed M&A. His clients are primarily international distressed debt investors, institutional creditors, insolvency administrators and shareholders of companies in distress. Mr. Esser is an associate editor for the ABI Journal and publishes and speaks frequently on German and international insolvency and restructuring law, recently in particu- lar on the European Insolvency Regulation (Recast). He also co-edited ABI's recent book Chapter 15 for Foreign Debtors (2015). Mr. Esser is admitted to practice law in Germany and in New York State. He studied at the Universities of TÂ?bingen and Leipzig, holds a Ph.D. in law, and received an LL.M. from the University of Chicago Law School.
