Dr. Grant W. Newton

Grant W. Newton is executive director of the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors (AIRA) in Medford, Ore., and professor emeritus of accounting at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Ca- lif. His areas of expertise include financial reporting issues in bankruptcy (SOP 90-7) business valuation, insolvency analysis, tax issues related to bankruptcy, and out-of-court settlements and other aspects of bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings. He was a member of the task force that developed SOP 90-7, issued by the AICPA. Mr. Newton authored Bankruptcy and Insolvency Accounting and co-authored Bankruptcy and Insolvency Taxation, both published by Wiley. In addition, he helped develop and teach- es the CIRA certification courses for AIRA.
