Bio

Jeff J. Marwil is the founder of Ocean Boulevard Strategic Advisors in Boca Raton, Fla., a financial advisory and related services firm based in South Florida and Chicago. Jeff has had several Independent Director assignments over the last two years, including his current position as an Executive Director on the board of Encyclopedia Britannica. In addition to his current independent fiduciary assignments, he provides strategic advisory services to owners, borrowers and lenders in distressed company situations, sophisticated financial advisory services to boards and management, and independent fiduciary and corporate governance services. He is also a senior advisor to the distressed investment banking group at SC&H Capital. Previously, Mr. Marwil was a partner with Proskauer, where he was co-head of its national bankruptcy and restructuring practice. He has nearly 40 years of experience with AmLaw 50 law firms, having represented companies, their lenders and other parties in interest in workouts, corporate restructurings and large chapter 11 cases. He has provided strategic advice to companies in distress and solved challenging legal and business issues. Mr. Marwil is focused on applying his corporate restructuring and bankruptcy legal experience to Ocean’s “business-side advice” platform while continuing to work on complex corporate restructurings, workouts and chapter 11 cases. He has served as lead counsel for debtors, official committees and trustees in some of the largest cases in America, including for Energy Future Holdings Corp., the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Caesars Entertainment Operating Co. Inc., ITT Educational Services Inc., and the Bayou Group of Hedge Funds (where he was the sole (independent) fiduciary responsible for significant clawback litigation recoveries). Mr. Marwil is a former ABI Board member. He received his B.A. in economics from the University of Michigan in 1983 and his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in 1986, where he was a member of its law review.
